Today lead prosecutor, Linda Drane Burdick, rested the State of Florida’s case against Casey Marie Anthony.

Immediately afterwards, defense lawyer, Cheney Mason moved in for an acquittal!

Mason argued for an acquittal citing case law from the Florida Supreme Court that the State has failed to prove it’s case for Murder 1, Aggravated Child Abuse etc.

Judge Belvin Perry denied the defense’s motion for acquittal.

The defense also let it be known that they have a new witness who was just recently uncovered due to ongoing defense investigations. The man’s name is Vasco Dagama Thompson. He’s a convicted kidnapper!

Vasco Dagama Thompson, according to the filing, “was connected to George Anthony through his cell phone records.” Records show four calls between Caylee’s grandfather and Thompson on July 14, 2008 — a day beforeCindy Anthony reported Caylee’s disappearance to theOrange County Sheriff’s Office.
