Casey took Detective Yuri Melich took Universal Studios where she claimed she work, then confessed she was fired years ago!

JEFFREY HOPKINS
The first witness up was Jeffrey Hopkins. No, not Tot Mom’s imaginary friend. As it turns out, there’s a real Jeffrey Hopkins. He went to middle school with Casey and when the case broke, he contacted cops saying he wasn’t the person she was talking about. On cross exam, Lawyer Jose Baez, asked him if he was “Jeffrey MICHAEL Hopkins” that Casey spoke of. He said no. Jeffrey Hopkins also admitted that when he was in middle school, he had a crush on Casey Anthony! That illicited a smile from Casey at the defense table!
LEONARD TURTORA
Leonard Turtora is an assistant manager of Loss Prevention at Universal Studios. He testified next. After Casey Anthony told cops she worked as an events coordinator at Universal Studios, cops came to Universal to investigate. Turtora assisted them.
LEE ANTHONY
A jail video was played featuring Casey Anthony’s brother, Lee Anthony, who had come to visit her in jail. He explained jail rules, asked for info about where Caylee was, told her to write a letter to him and that he wouldn’t share it. Casey told Lee that she felt Casey was close to him at a place known to her. (she was ultimately found at Jay Blanchard Park – a place known to her) Lee Anthony asked Casey how Jose Baez became her attorney. Casey said some of the inmates mentioned him, that he was good. She asked them to pass her name to him. Baez showed up the next day. Lee Anthony was very critical of lawyer Jose Baez, saying he’s out for himself amongst other things. This prompted Jose Baez to aske for a mistrial claiming Lee’s statements serve to prejudice the jury against him. The judge denied the mistrial.
GEORGE & CINDY ANTHONY
A video played showing Casey Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony visiting her in jail. Cindy told Casey that the whole country was looking for Caylee and that Caylee would be on the cover of People magazine! When Cindy asked Casey if she wanted her to give Zenaida Gonzalez a message via tv, Casey said to tell Zanny that she forgive her but she needs to give Caylee back. Casey also gave her parents a description of Zanny: that she’s 5’7, 140 pounds, tan with brown eyes.
DETECTIVE YURI MELICH
Lead Detective Yuri Melich then testified. Before he gave any answers, he would turn towards the jury and give his answer, like he was trying to connect with them.
After Casey Anthony told Detective Yuri Melich that she worked as an Events Coordinator at Universal Studios, Melich went there to follow up. He found out that Casey Anthony was fired in 2006! He had cops voluntarily bring her to Universal then pretend they don’t know she’s lying.
When Casey & the cops arrived a the Universal Studios gate, she gave the security guard her name. He said she wasn’t coming up as an employee. Manager Leonard Turtora, who was already there with Det. Yuri Melich, signed her in. Casey took cops to a building she claimed her office was in. When they got halfway down the hallway, she confessed she doesn’t work there!
Det. Yuri Melich, Sgt John Allen, & Det. Appling Wells confronted her about lying that she worked here. Det. Yuri Melich said, “I understand that right now Caylee may not be in really good shape. She may not be the way your family last remembers her”. They confront Casey about giving them a bunch of bad addresses where she claimed Zenaida Gonzalez lived. They say the first apartment, no one by the name of Zenaida Gonzalez ever lived in! The second apartment was an old folks home! Detectives confront her about lying over what happened to Caylee. They give her potential scenarios of what might’ve happened. They say they have spoken to moms in the past who’ve accidentally rolled over & killed their babies. Moms who’s kids drown in pools. Mom’s who’s boyfriends beat kids to death. The detectives confront Casey that they know Jeffrey Hopkins who she claim she currently works with – got fired in 2002! They also say no Juliette Lewis ever worked here! Casey then mentioned that she got a call from Caylee on her cellphone earlier on! Caylee said, “Hi Mommy”. Caylee seemed happy and was telling her about a book! Casey asked her to put an adult on the phone but the phone hung up! Cops asked to see Casey’s cell phone to look for the number that Caylee supposedly called from. When the cops asked Casey why she brought them here, she said she was trying to bring them to place that Caylee knows and would come to. A detective asked her how Caylee who’s only 3, is going to get here, jump in a cab? They asked about Caylee’s dad who Casey said died. She claims she hadn’t spoken to his family for long time. Casey admitted she was petrified and said, “I know my mother will never forgive me.” She also admitted taking her family’s credit cards. Casey said Zanny was Puerto Rican and Black, resided in New York. Casey claimed she went to Valencia College. She said Caylee liked Jay Blanchard Park, would run under the hill and play on the playground.
After the audio of Casey being interviewed at Universal Studios finished, Yuri Melich resumed testimony. He said he got 4 toothbrushes, 1 brush, 1 comb and 1 thermometer belonging to Caylee Anthony. He turned them over to CSI Christine Narcowitz.
Melich testified that Casey Anthony was later arrested for providing false info to law enforcement, obstructing an investigation and child neglect.
During cross examination, Jose Baez confronted Yuri Melich about looking at the jury when he answers questions. Baez points out that he doesn’t do that during cross examination. Jose Baez suggested Yuri Melich thought Casey was a suspect all along.
