Caylee Anthony Nutshell: Outside the jury’s presence, Casey Anthony’s ex Tony Lazzaro said Casey told him dad hit her & bro tried to feel her b.reasts! Tony said Caylee could count to 40 in Spanish. She learned it from Dora The Explorer. Casey’s ex. Ricardo Morales said he sold pics of Caylee to Globe tabloid for $4,000. Both Caylee and Casey would sleep in bed with him! Casey and Caylee also slept over at another of Casey’s boyfriend’s, Christopher Stutz. George Anthony accused Jose Baez of badgering him when questioned about reporting gas cans stolen! The DA brought on a slew of Casey’s friends who all said she seemed happy and never mentioned Caylee was missing.
Tony Lazzaro: Casey’s ex boyfriend whom she lived with after Caylee Anthony disappeared testified again. DA Frank George got him to admit that at the Anthony family home, when Casey was pouring gasoline into the car, that he (Tony) couldn’t smell the trunk because of the gasoline smell. When Casey poured second gas can into trunk he walked away. From a distance he couldn’t see what was in the trunk, just the top of it. Tony Lazzaro testified that Caylee Anthony was very smart and could count to 40 in Spanish. He said she learned how to do that from watching Dora the Explorer. When he said that, Casey Anthony started to smile and shake her head like a proud mom. On June 16th 2008, the day the defense claims that Caylee drowned, Tony Lazzaro and Casey Anthony were caught on video camera, arm in arm at a Blockbuster renting 2 videos. The videos were, “Untraceable” and “Jumper”. At the end of the day, outside of the jury’s presence, Anthony Lazzaro was brought back into the room to proffer testimony. That’s when testimony is spoken before the judge who will then decide if the jury will be allowed to hear it. Lawyer Jose Baez asked him if Casey Anthony shared any secrets with him. Tony Lazzaro said that Casey told him that her brother, Lee Anthony, tried to feel her b.reasts. He also said Casey told him George Anthony hit her as a child. Lazzaro took it to mean discipline. Judge Belvin Perry repeatedly butchered Tony Lazzaro’s Italian last name by calling him “Lazza –rio”!
George Anthony: Casey Anthony’s father took the stand. He got into a verbal sparring match with lawyer Jose Baez. Baez questioned him and said that George could report to police that his gas cans were missing but not that his granddaughter was missing! George Anthony said the reason he put duct tape on the gas cans is because their was a crack on the side of it and he didn’t want the smell of gas to engulf his whole shed.
Ricardo Morales: Casey Anthony’s ex boyfriend then testified. He dated Casey from Feb-April 2008. He took pictures of Caylee at her birthday party then sold them to the Globe magazine for $4,000. He took the picture of Caylee wearing her “Big Trouble” t-shirt and another picture of Casey holding Caylee who had a bruise under her left eye. The judge told the jury that it wasn’t a result of child abuse. Jose Baez confronted Ricardo Morales with a picture he posted on his Myspace page of a man and a woman with the caption, “win her over with chloroform”! He denied doing chloroform searches on Casey’s computer. The big jaw dropper about his testimony is that he revealed that 3-4 times per week, both Casey and Caylee Anthony would sleep in the bed with him! Casey slept in between Ricardo and Caylee. One night he awoke and Caylee wasn’t there. Casey said her mom called in the middle of the night and wanted Caylee back. Ricardo Morales also testified that Casey had issues with Caylee going to sleep.
Melissa England dated Casey Anthony’s friend, Troy Brown. She testified that she’s 26 and now lives in Boston, MA. In June and July 2008 she lived in Virginia and went to Florida to visit Troy Brown. She and Troy went to Voyage (voy-aj) and met Casey there. Since Troy had to work the next day, Casey offered to show Melissa around. Casey mentioned she was getting a tattoo the next day and asked Melissa if she wanted to come along. Melissa said no. Once when Casey and Melissa were in a car and Casey received a phone call from friends wanting her to come get them, she lied and the friends bought her explanation. After hanging up the phone said, “Oh my God, I am such a good liar”! Once when Melissa England and Casey Anthony were at a Target, Casey got a phone call from her mom, they argued over money and Melissa heard the word, “nanny”. At the mall, Casey was always texting and told Melissa it was her job she was texting. She claimed she was an Events Planner for Universal Studios. Casey Anthony told Melissa on July 3rd 2008 that she was thinking of leaving Orlando because the public school system was no that great for Caylee.
Troy Brown testified next. He’s Ricardo Morales’ friend and met Casey Anthony at a birthday party. He said when he saw Casey at the Voyage nightclub she never mentioned that Caylee Anthony was missing. He said Casey received multiple phone calls throughout the night of 7-3-08 that made her cry. The group of friends, planned a trip to Puerto Rico. On 7-10-08 Casey said she wasn’t going to Puerto Rico. She picked up her friends, Troy Brown, Amy Huizenga, JP Chatt and Ricardo Morales, from the airport in Tony Lazzaro’s car on 7-15-08, the day the 911 call to cops was made.
Iassen Donov testified. He’s 27, a current pharmaceutical recruiter and met Casey in January 2007 when she was dating his friend, Brandon Snow. In June 2008, he saw Casey at the Ale House. He testified she was happy, social and never mentioned Caylee Anthony. He asked Casey where Caylee was and she told him, with the nanny. ( Maybe I heard wrong but I think I heard him say she had a nanny for 6 years?) Iassen Donov also stated he was interested in dating Casey Anthony even though she had a boyfriend at the time.
Dante Salati testified that he’s currently a mechanic, knew Casey Anthony for 11 years, went to H.S. with her and lived at the Sawgrass Apartments, apt 218 in 2008. He saw Casey Anthony on 7-3-08 in Miller’s Ale House. She never said Caylee was missing or something bad happened. He also stated he never saw Casey mistreat Caylee.
Christopher Stutz, another one of Casey Anthony’s ex boyfriends testified. He said he’s 23, an aquatics coordinator the the YMCA, has know Casey since 2005 when they met at a football game. He testified that both Casey and Caylee Anthony slept over at his house! He was asked by cops if he saw Casey on June 17th 2008. He said when he saw Casey, Caylee was not there. He later got a text message from Lee Anthony saying that Caylee was missing.
Matthew Crisp, 24, a residential property manager, testified next. He met Casey and her boyfriend on 6-19-08 at Craig’s Landing Apt. when her boyfriend was looking for an apartment. Casey seemed happy and never said Caylee Anthony was missing. Matthew Crisp met Casey on July 7th for lunch at Subway. Casey said Caylee was in Sanford on a playdate with one of her girlfriend’s who also has a child.
After the jury left for the day, defense lawyer Cheney Mason asked the judge for the grand jury testimony of George Anthony. He said that testimony is now impeachable. The judge previously denied this. Mason also said it was improper for the prosecution to keep calling up all of Casey’s former friends just to establish an absence or remorse. He claims that in a death penalty trial that can’t be used as evidence. Mason then moved for a mistrial. Judge Belvin Perry said the friend’s testimony was relevant to show conduct. It was no surprise that Belvin Perry sided with the prosecution. He use to be a prosecutor before becoming a judge and has denied most of the defense’s motions.
